The necklace is made with 14k gold filled jewelry wire knitted to form a supple jacket around gold finished beads.  All cast parts are sterling silver finished in 14k gold.  The end pieces are engraved with the personal signatures of Joseph Smith and Emma.

 The hand-crafted wood box is made from Vermont sugar maple and from Pennsylvania black walnut.  One representing the common tree on the Vermont mountain where Joseph was born.  The other a familiar tree from the riverside of Emma's birthplace.
The necklace is created to celebrate the hearts of Joseph and Emma "entwined together" with an eternal bond.  The love for their children is represented by the one thousand and three hundred gold stitches, knitted together, one stitch at a time, one stitch for each descendant.
